History

1905

Otto and Adolf Stoelting (sons of German immigrants) went into business with two partners, selling hardware and operating a sheetmetal shop (fabricating tanks for farmers and cheesemakers).

1907

Third brother (Gustav) joined the newly formed business: Stoelting Brothers Company

1920

Full-scale production of cheesemaking equipment began. Retail hardware business was discontinued.

1939

Stoelting was contracted to engineer and build first soft ice cream dispenser for the Home Made Ice Cream Company (now Dairy Queen), creating a new market.

1942

Third product line was developed when the company began to design and build conveyorized milk can washers for cheesemakers, marking the beginning of a new product line - industrial cleaning equipment.

1960

Adolph Stoelting retired, passing presidency to son, Fred.

1962

Ice Berger Freezer (slush machines) went into the marketplace.

1966

Began full-scale selling of slush/cocktail freezers along with soft serve freezers.

1969

Cheesemaking Division introduced equipment that automated the cheddar cheesemaking process.

1973

Cleaning Division introduced the circuit board cleaner for the Electronics Industry.

1977

Stoelting Brothers became Stoelting, Inc.

1982

New Stoelting Swirl logo was trademarked.

1985

Fred Stoelting retired and presidency was passed on to son, John.

1999

Stoelting broadened the cleaning product line by acquiring assets of Lewis Cleaning Systems (Oxford, CT), a pioneer in the ultrasonic cleaning industry since 1965.

2000

Stoelting celebrated 95 years in business.

2002

Polar Ware Company, along with Sheboygan business investor David Sachse (current President of Stoelting), purchased Stoelting, Inc.

2005

Stoelting acquired the product lines of Trek Industries.

2005

Stoelting celebrated its 100th Anniversary!

2006

May -- Stoelting announces the addition of Batch Freezers and Crème Whippers to the Commercial line of equipment. Stoelting will distribute the equipment in North America; equipment manufactured by Telme, headquartered in Italy.

2006

June -- Stoelting acquires Ross’s Manufacturing of Escanaba, MI, a recognized leader in manufacturing and selling frozen custard freezers, and dipping cabinets. These product lines have been moved to the Stoelting facility in Kiel, Wisconsin, and integrated into the Foodservice Division.

2007

Polar Ware celebrated 100 years in business.

2007

Stoelting's parent company, Polar Ware Company of Sheboygan, moved its operations to Kiel. A 110,000 square foot addition east of the existing Stoelting facility, is the new Polar Ware home, and a new distribution center for both Polar Ware and Stoelting.

 

2008
